In Tight with Jenna

After scheduling an interview with the biggest name the Adult Industry has ever
seen, I admit
I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I had already been
introduced to Jenna Jameson, but we had only talked for a
few moments - not nearly enough time for me to get to know
her. I wouldn't go so far as to say I expected her to be
rude or a dumb
blonde or anything like that, but I guess I thought there was a
good chance her success had gone to her head. But really,
if it had, could you blame her?
Needless to say, when I interviewed her at the 2003 Adult
Entertainment Expo, I found out my suspicions were wrong. As it turns out, Jenna is a
very friendly, down to earth, intelligent, articulate, and most of all
grateful person. She's amazed that she was chosen as the one
to successfully bridge the gap between mainstream
and porn, and her ultimate goal is to make all Americans, especially
women, feel more comfortable with their sexuality.

TeraBabes: You are obviously the biggest star, probably ever, in the adult industry.
How did that happen? What's your explanation for that?
Jenna Jameson: Well, I usually achieve what I put my mind to, and when I decided to come into this business, I said, "If I'm going to do this, I'm going to be the biggest star."
Maybe I was thinking way too far ahead, but it happened, and I worked my butt off to get here. It's a really wonderful thing, and now I've come to the pinnacle.
I've really grown up, and it feels good to be on top of my game - for nine years.
TB: Yeah, no kidding. That's a great story. How much do you think some of the mainstream stuff you've done - like Howard Stern - how much do you think that's helped your career?
Do you attribute your success to that, or do you think even without that, you'd be as big as you are?
JJ: That was a huge factor in my popularity. Howard Stern backed me from the
very beginning, and it really got my name out there to people in mainstream America - middle America.
So, yeah, I'm very thankful for all that, and yes, I attribute a lot of my popularity to my E Channel hosting stuff when I was 19.
It's just really amazing to me that I was chosen as the girl to cross over.
I'm still amazed by it.
TB: You are literally changing the industry. It's changing because of you.
JJ: That's my goal.
TB: Ok, tell me more about your goal. What do you want to see next?
JJ: Well, I know how open Americans are sexually. The only problem is they're incredibly repressed.
What I'm trying to do is make women out there feel comfortable with their sexuality and stop being so pushed down by (the idea that) women are supposed to be in the kitchen, or in the bedroom - the Madonna complex.
I just want women to start feeling a little bit more comfortable, and I think that by setting an example that I'm the girl next door that feels comfortable sexually, I think that they relate to me.
It's only a matter of time before everyone in America feels comfortable going to the
Video Store and buying a porno.
TB: I also wonder if mainstream movies are going to start to take things a little farther, as adult movies have started to get a little more mainstream.
Adult DVDs are starting to get extras and commentary tracks.
Just recently, I was watching the commentary track for Briana Loves
Jenna, and it's funny, but it's really informative too.
JJ: Yeah, totally.
TB: Was that fun to make?
JJ: It was great. Briana Loves
Jenna was my very first production from my production company.
It was a huge step for me.
TB: Well, it has been a huge seller, so obviously it's been
very successful.
JJ: Yeah, very successful.
TB: Tell me a little bit about your web site, Club
Jenna.
JJ: My web site is my baby. It's my brain child. When I was younger in the business, I knew the industry was going to be turning towards the digital age, and I realized that I needed to start compiling all my pictures and be smart about my career.
As soon as I was ready, I hit the internet and now that's what I want to dominate.
And I'm well on my way.
TB: How involved are you in the web site? Do you interact
with your fans a lot?
JJ: Absolutely. I do live video chats once a week, and I'm very active in my forum.
I post two brand new sets every week, which is kind of unheard of for a porn star's site.
Usually they are not as involved.
TB: Yeah, that's huge. That's a lot. Usually the site is, if anything, backup to everything else.
It sounds like you are really trying to focus on it.
JJ: It's my number one. Number one, even before my production company.
TB: Of all the movies you've done, which one is your favorite?
If some guy just turned 18 yesterday and has never seen one *laugh*, which one should he go buy?
JJ: That's probably the hardest question that's ever asked.
I've done so many incredible films during my career, with Wicked and now with
Vivid. They're all so different. I've done epic films, such as
Dream
Quest and Flashpoint - the Wicked ones - huge films.
They are something you would see on HBO. And now I've moved more into the sexual side.
So I have movies for every taste. I lean a little bit towards the films that I'm producing, because they are a little bit of me.
They're what I feel comfortable with, and they let the fans get to know me a little bit better - what kind of person I am.
So, it really depends on what they want. If they want to see something epic, with me acting and huge explosions and great sex, then they need to get
Dream
Quest or Flashpoint, but if they want to see what I'm really about and incredibly hot sex and beautiful women, then they need to get Briana Loves
Jenna or I Dream of Jenna.
TB: For that being the hardest question you're ever asked, I'd say that's about the perfect answer.
JJ: Thank you.
TB: So you've either rehearsed it or had a lot of practice---
JJ: No, I haven't. I'm just a yapper.
TB: What's next for you? What do you have planned?
JJ: I'm moving a little bit more behind the camera. I always said that I wasn't going to do this, but it's almost like it's falling in my lap.
I've signed about 15 girls now that I'm managing their web sites. I have
Briana, all the JKP
girls, and we're signing Tawny Roberts. We have a huge amount of girls.
I just want to make it so the girls are going to be able to succeed as much as I have.
Way too many people rip the girls off, and I want to change that. If they are going to be having sex on camera, they need to be getting something out of it.
TB: That's wonderful, and I'd say Jill is the perfect person to work with, because she has the same attitude.
JJ: Well, she's my best friend, so we're a lot alike.
TB: What's something that people don't ask you that you wish they would when you do these interviews?
JJ: That's funny. I get the broad spectrum. I get a lot of "Who's your favorite fashion designer?
What's your favorite sexual position?" I've been asked everything across the boards, and that's what keeps it so fresh for me.
It's nice.
TB: I was hoping to come up with something that people haven't asked you, but I know you've been asked everything.
JJ: How about, "What's my favorite part of my body?" Not many people have asked me that.
TB: Really? I was going to ask you that. That was going to be my last question.
JJ: Really?
TB: Yeah, I swear.
JJ: All right. My favorite part of my body is my feet.
They're size 5 1/2. They're little baby feet.
TB: This interview is going to be called In Tight with Jenna
Jameson, and I wanted to take a real close up picture of some random part of your body, whether it's an eye, a lip, whatever.
So, if your feet are your favorite...
JJ: Can we do it later? (Pointing to her boots) Because I'm all strapped in *laughs*
TB: Of course. You know, I've got to tell you, that ring is pretty impressive (It was literally the largest diamond ring I have ever seen), so let me
ask you about that. You're engaged now.
JJ: I'm engaged to Justin Sterling. We've been together now for almost five years.
TB Sound Guy: Justin directed Briana Loves
Jenna.
JJ: Yes, and I Dream of Jenna.
He also co-directed a lot of my Vivid films. He's very sweet, he's in this business, he knows what fans like, so it's just the perfect marriage - the perfect partnership.
TB: Obviously you guys have worked through all of this, but back in the beginning, was it hard for him to see you with other men and women?
And how did you get past that?
JJ: Well, that's always hard in a relationship. I made the decision that I was only going to work with him once we became serious, and he's such a wonderful performer that it doesn't make it very hard for me.
He's great with me being with other girls. He's so not jealous, and for the first time in my life, I have a man that supports absolutely everything I do.
It just makes me a better person.
TB: That's great. Ok, last question - your family and friends.
Obviously they all know what you do. Are they all supportive?
Has anyone disowned you or anything like that?
JJ: I'm very lucky that way. I was raised by my father, and he's incredibly supportive of absolutely everything that I do.
He told me when I first got into this industry, "Jenna, if you're going to do this, take 'em by the balls, baby."
TB: Did he really? What a great attitude.
JJ: Yeah, I'm surrounded by the most amazing friends and family.
I'm a very lucky girl.
TB: That's great that you are appreciative of that. Well Jenna, I could sit here and talk to you all day long---
JJ: *laughs*
TB: ---but I know you have a whole bunch of fans waiting to meet you and I'm sure you are looking forward to meeting them.
Do you enjoy meeting your fans?
JJ: I love it. This is my ninth year at AVN, and I love it.
It gets a little bit crazy and I get a little frazzled, but it's just payoff for me.
It really solidifies what I've done and what I've achieved.
TB: Well, I wish you much continued success in the future, and hopefully I'll get to talk to you again sometime.
